I’m not much of a traveler. Sure, I’ve dreamed about visiting certain cities or countries, but I don’t really make it a life goal nor make a conscious effort to get myself there. I do want to go to Thailand ever since I’ve been a fan of many Thai actors hahaha. It would be fun if I could meet them in person or just stroll around Bangkok, visiting places that have been featured on their shows. One day I also want to see John Mayer’s concert in a huge ass venue such as Madison Square Garden or Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre.
However, they just aren’t my priorities right now, so yeah.
There’s still a place I do really want to visit these days though: Tunjungan Plaza (TP) Surabaya.
Okay, this may sound very basic. But then again, I am a basic person hahaha. So laugh all you want, but that mall had become my number one go-to place to blow off some steam. I loved hanging out there. I still do. I used to go there every two weeks or so, but since March I haven’t done it anymore because of this eff-ing pandemic.
I miss spending time working at Starbucks TP6, burying myself under a pile of articles to edit—followed by a dinner session with a bowl of hot ramen at the food court. Sometimes a few of my friends would join me for dinner and we would talk for hours catching up on each other’s lives. God, I miss it a lot. I also miss bumping into people I know while walking absent-mindedly around the mall, be it an old friend or a family member.
When this pandemic is all over, I think TP is going to be the first place that I will visit. Watch me spend the whole day there, not willing to go home until they have to call security. LOL.
