There are a lot actually. Going to music concerts is one of them because, God, I love it so much. I’ve gone to a number of concerts and the activity always leaves me with SUCH an overwhelming feeling—in a good way. It’s like all of the positive feelings combined into one and it makes you want to combust out of excitement. There’s just something thrilling about shouting out lyrics at the top of your lungs with fellow music fans out there, while the actual artist is standing on stage. At that moment, everything else doesn’t matter. During those few hours, I would forget about all of my problems. I would pretend that such things exist. God, it feels so liberating.
Too bad I can’t just go to a music concert whenever I want. Thank God there are still a lot of little things in life that make me happy. I gotta admit, sometimes I forget about these and for too many times I take them for granted. So may this list also serves as a reminder that I actually have A LOT to be thankful for.
- A good night sleep
- A nice, long stretch when I first wake up in the morning (or late morning LOL)
- Listening to my favorite songs
- When my favorite artists release new singles or albums
- Finding new songs to love, which brings me to;
- Release Radar and Discover Weekly on Spotify!
- Having a video call with my best friends
- Waking up and realizing I still have more time to sleep
- Being asked by someone how I’m doing
- Trying a new recipe to cook
- Checking things off on my to-do list
- Climbing onto the bed that has fresh sheets
- Payday!
- Driving alone while singing along to my favorite tunes
- Learning something new
- Watching good movies or series
- Reading something that really resonates with me
- Sending long messages to my friends on their birthdays
- Receiving messages with encouraging words from my loved ones
- Finding money in my pocket that I didn’t know I had
- Lazy weekends
- Bonding with someone over a shared interest
- Laughing at a funny old memory
- Iced coffee!
- When my Spotify playlist shuffles to a song that I really want to hear
- Buying something for my parents, even if it’s just a snack
- …And there are still moooore!
Honorable mention: Thai BL series!
Oh my good God. So a friend of mine (looking at you, Azmi) introduced me to it when I was looking for something new to watch during the pandemic. 2gether The Series was the first title that I watched. One title led to another and before I knew it, I already went down a rabbit hole of Thai BL series. I just couldn’t stop watching it! Yes, even until now. I’ve grown attached to the actors and every day I would scroll through my Twitter and Instagram to get new updates from them. And it's not just BL series now, I also watch their other shows and listen to their music and so on. I know I sound like a lunatic, but they genuinely make me happy.
Some of my other friends keep asking me, “WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?? SINCE WHEN ARE YOU INTO THAI POP CULTURE???” I… don’t know? I just know that they keep me sane, especially during this difficult time. And that’s what we should focus on more, I guess. No, not particularly the Thai BL series and its actors hahaha. I meant the things that make us happy. As long as those things don’t cause any harm, then go for it. We all deserve to be happy after all. Let's be happy together, shall we?
