Day 14 - Describing My Style

I’ve never considered myself as a fashionable person. And I’m pretty sure people don’t see me as one too. I can’t even remember the last time I bought a new piece of clothes or any other fashion item. When I have a bit more money, I usually spend it on food rather than clothes. LOL. Maybe that’s why I rarely experiment with different kinds of styles.

However, I’ve always been drawn to the casual one-colored tee or shirt, paired with jeans or culottes. And since I wear a hijab on daily basis, I make sure that the hijab I wear matches my outfit. Don’t forget to put on a pair of flat shoes, then I’m ready to go.

I don’t have the type of body that Indonesian people would consider “ideal” (read: tall and skinny). I used to feel insecure about this. Questions like “why do I have big thighs?” or “why am I not tall?” used to occupy my mind a lot. Now I’ve made peace with myself, thank God. Well, sometimes that kind of thought does still come up, but it no longer makes me want to hide from the world.

Maybe that’s why I don’t like drawing attention to myself. I prefer anything plain and simple. I also don’t like wearing something too tight that could highlight certain parts of my body, because I’m just worried people would stare at me. Skirts are no-go since I'm not comfortable wearing them. So, loose shirts and jeans, it is.
